A decomposi\u00e7\u00e3o do lixo gera g\u00e1s metano, que \u00e9 poluente (23 vezes mais poluente que o g\u00e1s carb\u00f4nico!) e contribui com o efeito estufa. Esse g\u00e1s \u00e9 lan\u00e7ado na atmosfera pelos lix\u00f5es a c\u00e9u aberto. Inaugurou em agosto de 2018 sua primeira planta de gera\u00e7\u00e3o distribu\u00edda a biog\u00e1s, em Barra Mansa (RJ). Atualmente, possui 2 megawatts em opera\u00e7\u00e3o em Barra Mansa, 1 megawatt em Petrolina e at\u00e9 o in\u00edcio de 2020 estar\u00e1 com mais 3 megawatts em opera\u00e7\u00e3o.
